Fair funding top issue as local government leaders gather in Canberra

Around 650 local government delegates will gather in Canberra for the 11th National General Assembly of Local Government to be held at the National Convention Centre on 7-10 November. A one day Regional Cooperation and Development Forum will be held on Sunday 7 November.

Key issues at the General Assembly will include the need for a fair funding deal for local government, progress on implementation of the Fair Share report on cost shifting and local government financing, infrastructure, transport, environment and ageing issues. Highlights include:
