Contributions called for Access and Equity Report

8 October 2005

The Australian Local Government Association and the Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs (DIMIA) invite councils to contribute to the Commonwealth's 2005 Access and Equity Annual Report.

The report - tabled in Federal Parliament each year - presents an Australia-wide picture of cultural diversity in government service delivery.

The report highlights good practice examples of implementation of the Charter of Public Service in a Culturally Diverse Society.

Local government activity was included in the report for the first time last year.

This year, councils are invited to provide snapshots of activities in meeting the needs of their culturally and linguistically diverse clients and in developing innovative responses to cultural diversity.

Contributions of no more than 100 words should be emailed to Simon Flores, Multicultural Affairs Branch, DIMIA at simon.flores@immi.gov.au by 28 October.

For further information please contact Simon at DIMMIA on 02 6264 1703.
