Land for Wildlife program

This program is aimed at landholders, however councils can assist in providing information to their community. The program is run differently in each state, but is usually coordinated by state government departments. Partnerships are formed between local councils, community groups and non government organisations.

The Land for Wildlife program is a voluntary program aimed at encouraging and assisting private landholders to provide wildlife habitat on their property. The program is free to join and is not legally binding. The registration ceases on the sale of the property, although the new owners can register if they wish.

Technical support and advice on habitat management is provided, including information available to landholders for participating. Land for Wildlife signs are provided, landholders can access education programs and activities and they also meet other like minded people.
