Implementation of the Plan
Introduction
The implementation of the action plan is coordinated through ALGA, which reports to the Australian Government as represented by the Office for an Ageing Australia. Progress towards achieving the actions identified in the plan will be monitored by a Steering Committee. ALGA will report six monthly to the Steering Committee.

From July 2004 to June 2005, ALGA implemented the following initiatives of the Australian Local Government Population Ageing Action Plan:

- National General Assembly of Local Government ageing workshop
- Ageing Awareness and Action Survey
- Connecting with Seniors project
- Explored partnership opportunities
- Awareness to action: Local government's response to population ageing
Reference group
To support the implementation of the action plan, a reference group has been established of local government representatives and other relevant agencies, including elected representatives and practitioners.
