Learning communities

ALGA is a strong support of the Learning Communities Catalyst, a clearinghouse for information, research, case studies and practical tools to assist communities, councils, government, businesses, policy-makers and other stakeholders researching, advocating for and developing learning communities.

Population and ageing

ALGA and the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing have entered into a partnership to expand local government's capacity to address and plan for population ageing through the development of a strategic action plan.

Indigenous reconciliation

The pursuit of social and economic justice compels agencies of government in all spheres to guarantee Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, whatever their circumstances, equity of access to health, education, employment and other community services. The need to redress the social and economic disadvantage of Indigenous peoples is urgent.
